A Sacred Reset: Intention at the Threshold

As we move closer to the new year of the Fire Horse, the upcoming eclipse, and the powerful conjunction of Neptune and Saturn at zero degrees Aries, many are asking what all of this means when it comes to setting new intentions.

Some are describing this moment as anything but subtle—a reset point.

I found myself sitting quietly one morning, watching the trees move in the wind, feeling that sense of threshold in my own life. It didn’t feel dramatic. It felt still. Like something was ending, and something else was quietly waiting to begin.

So the question becomes: What do you want to reset? What are your intentions during this powerful time?

That can be a hard question sometimes. Right?

What do we really want to create or envision in this world—not only for ourselves, but for the larger community?

We often think of the big things fairly easily: romantic relationships, good health, financial abundance. Where we tend to fall short is in how we communicate our desires to the universal force of creation.

We say we want a romantic relationship—but what kind?

The Ancestors once said that being vague in your request to the universe is like asking a friend to go to the store to buy you a pair of pants without telling them what kind. In your mind, you’re picturing a pair of nice stone-washed jeans. Your friend goes to the store, sees hundreds of styles, looks around for a while, and then comes across these awesome rainbow leggings. They think, OMG, this is perfect for my friend.

They bring them home, and you’re like, “Oh… okay. That’s not what I had in mind.”

You can see how putting out vague requests can create confusion in the universal field of creation. The universe brings you a romantic relationship because you asked for one—but once you’re in it, you realize it’s not the right fit.

The same goes for financial abundance. We all want enough money to pay our bills, feed ourselves and our families, and have a safe place to live. So we set a general intention for financial abundance to cover our basic needs. But what if you also want to take a nice vacation? Or save for retirement? Are you including those details when you set your intention? When you envision what you want to receive?

And what about good health? Do you set that intention while eating a package of Oreos every week? The universe might think that’s part of the healthy lifestyle you’re asking for.

I think you can start to see that the first step in setting any intention is specificity. Really dive into the details. My teacher always added, “This or something better,” so you’re not limiting what’s possible.

Before I move on, I want to talk about setting intentions for the smaller things in life. We tend to think about the big themes—health, relationships, wealth—but we don’t always set intentions around the “smaller” things that aren’t really small at all.

Joy, for example.

You might want to set the intention to bring more joy into your life. Or to connect with nature in a more conscious way. But what does that actually look like for you?

Does joy look like watching funny cat videos? Or helping an elder neighbor? Slowing down and appreciating the people in your life? Cuddling your pets more often? The list could go on. What brings joy to one person may look completely different for another.

If you want to connect with nature more consciously, what does that mean? Reading about nature? Spending more time outside? Asking nature what it needs from you? For me, I send gratitude from my heart whenever I’m in nature—or even watching a show about nature. There is no separation for me.

Intentions can be both big and small, but no matter what they are, clarity matters. We create unconsciously all the time through our thoughts. We say we want a romantic relationship, but we also think, I really enjoy my alone time. Mixed messages.

This is where specificity becomes even more important. The clearer you are, the less confusion you create.

Expectations are another thing that can block creation. You do the work. You set the intention. You’re specific. And when it doesn’t happen instantly, you think it didn’t work—and you move on.

Has that ever happened to you? I know it has to me.

The universal force is not operating on your timeline. In fact, I’m not even sure time exists in the same way for the universe.

You can include timing in your intentions, but be careful not to limit yourself. Let’s say you want a shiny new car. You’re very specific about what you want and when you want it—within six months. The six months pass, and you have the funds. You go to the dealership, but the exact car you envisioned isn’t available.

You think, The universe did it again.

But what if the universe is guiding you step by step toward something even better? What if there are unseen pieces still moving into place?

Sometimes creation requires more than one step.

Are you starting to see how intention and creation can feel a bit complicated?

Keeping an open mind and allowing the universe to help you create what you desire—or something better—can make the process feel more fluid. Letting go of rigid expectations allows the energy to move more freely.

And then there are the inner blocks: doubt, unworthiness, fear of stepping outside your comfort zone.

You want something—but you doubt it’s possible.
You don’t feel worthy of receiving it.
You worry about what others will think.

These thoughts create mixed signals. I really want this… but I don’t believe I can have it.

Writing can be a powerful tool here. Writing brings your intention into the physical world, and it allows you to refine it with clarity and ease.

Take time to write out your intentions. Be specific. Very specific. Then consciously release expectations. You can even write that into your statement:

“I release expectations of when and how this is created. I allow this or something better to unfold.”

You can also write out your hidden doubts and fears and ask that they not block you from receiving what you desire. This creates a safe container for exploration.

Write and rewrite until it feels aligned. Feel into it. Let go of perfection. Tap into curiosity and effortlessness.

When it feels complete, offer your vision to the universal energy. Feel it fully. Then release it with gratitude and trust.

Let yourself feel what is stirring as you read this.

What part of you already knows the next step?

Sometimes the next step is not loud.
It doesn’t arrive as a grand plan or a perfectly mapped-out path.

But it does require action.

Even small action.

Intention and visioning do not equal inaction.

We are in human bodies. There will always be steps to take.

The universe may bring you opportunities disguised as small nudges. You might meet someone who doesn’t feel like “the one,” but they introduce you to someone who is. You may want more joy, and a friend invites you to an art class. You don’t feel artistic, so you hesitate—but once you go, you discover you love it. Who cares if your flowers look like blobs? If it brings you joy, that matters.

Creation is co-creation.

We set the intention. The universe responds. And then we respond back.

So as we move through this sacred reset—this powerful threshold—ask yourself:

What do I truly want to create?
Where can I be more specific?
What expectations can I soften?
What small action feels aligned today?

A reset is not about erasing what has been.

It is about standing at the threshold with clearer vision.

May you step forward gently.
May your intentions be clear.
And may what is meant for you find its way—in its time.
